The quick actions of an off-duty police officer and Okiwi Bay residents and holidaymakers most probably saved the lives of three people, including a small child, from a boating accident at Okiwi Bay late yesterday.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is offering an opportunity to learn and ask questions at a boating education course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at ODNR's administrative headquarters, 2045 Morse Road, Building E in Columbus.
The courses ? designed for persons of all ages, will be taught at Hough?s Neck Maritime Center. They are being organized in partnership with the Massachusetts Environmental Police.
Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien will likely go to trial in a boating while impaired case in Minnesota, his attorney said on Thursday. Mitch Robinson said he and a prosecutor were "miles apart," and unable to agree. The next hearing is April 19, and Robinson anticipates the case will go to trial in June.
FRANKLIN FURNACE ? The Ohio Boating Education Course will be offered Feb. 11 at Shawnee State Park in West Portsmouth, according to officials from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Watercraft.
Starting as early as next month, canoeists and kayakers will be permitted to use a portion of the Chattooga River that has been closed to them since 1976.
